Towards Green Reductions in Bio‐Derived Solvents

The hydrogenation processes, and all the reactions that formally add two hydrogen atoms to an unsaturated bond, are among most used transformations in manufacture of bulk fine chemicals. Although their potential as powerful tool for sustainable synthesis organic compounds, hydrogenations, more generally reductions, have been typically carried out volatile solvents deriving from petroleum; indeed, studies fascinating advances related catalysts’ activity or reducing agents’ reactivity limited such often toxic reaction media. In this review, recent methodologies with improved degree sustainability described. particular, a series examples reported highlight chance reduce compound by using benign solvent renewable sources, without waiving process efficiency selectivity. Some important key points green chemistry, easiness catalyst recovery simplicity product isolation, considered choice described studies.
